Summary
Cornwall Enterprise is the economic development service for Cornwall County Council and its mission is to achieve sustainable prosperity for Cornwall. It co-ordinates and enables partnerships and has helped to develop the economic development strategy for the county.

Background

In 2002, Cornwall Enterprise commissioned a research programme within Cornwall and the UK to investigate perceptions of residents and workers of Cornwall and those businesses and consumers that buy their products and services.

The research findings were translated into a brand strategy which provided the focus to move forward, as well as an agreed approach to representing Cornwall, so that communications could be tailored to individual products, but still send out clear and consistent messages to all audiences.

Responsible business objectives

  • Integrating a low carbon strategy into the company's business model;
  • Raising the awareness of staff about climate change and empowering them to take action;
  • Encouraging suppliers to measure and minimise their own carbon footprint.

How they do it

  • By working with partners to ensure that investments made in the economy in Cornwall via government and European funding are climate change sensitive and encouraging businesses in Cornwall to understand the impact of climate change and the economic benefits of sound environmental practices.

What impact it has

  • Cornwall's environment is one of its key attractions to residents, visitors and investors alike. We do not want to impact this negatively.

Business Benefits

  • Allows us to keep track of information by working with partners on strategy and delivery of programmes.
