No. of Employees: 15-249
Region: South West
Summary
GOSW aims to make the South West a better place to live and work, now and in the future.
- Since the May Day conference (01.05.07) Government Office for the South Wales (GOSW) have issued over 30,000 copies of the "Resource Efficiency and Corporate Responsibility - Managing Change" guide (electronic pdf and printed versions).
- They conservatively estimate that the "Greener Events" guide has now reduced the environmental impact of over 2000 conferences and seminars across the UK thus making those events more cost effective and with lowered environmental impacts (reduced CO2 emissions and waste).
Background
GOSW put Government policy into practice at local level, implementing key programmes and initiatives in partnership with regional and local organisations and provide feedback to central Government that helps inform future policy.
Responsible business objectives
To assist the region’s businesses in reducing their environmental impact by adopting good management practice and ensuring the conferences and seminars that they host or manage have lower environmental impacts.
How they do it
GOSW work to achieve sustainable growth and to develop safe and prosperous communities that meet the diverse needs of everyone who lives and works there.
They have continued to promote two particularly successful management guides that help others to reduce their environmental impacts. These are located on their sustainability website (linked right) and are in the "Greener Events" guide and the internationally acclaimed "Resource Efficiency and Corporate Responsibility - Managing Change" guides.
What impact it has
Business Benefits
GOSW is working with regional partners to deliver an effective Regional Climate Change Action Plan that will help reduce the region’s carbon footprint and help the South West adapt to the impacts of climate change.
