Summary
Integration into the community has always been an important factor in the business plans of The Manor House. Creating good relationships with our local community has ensured that even though many independent care homes have had to close due to lack of correct funding, we have remained a thriving business and are in the process of expanding.

Background
The Manor House provides long term, short term and respite care and nursing services for 30 people aged over 60.  Manor House is set in the heart of the Ribble Valley, at the foot of Pendle Hill with easy access from the A59.  It nestles in a tranquil spot in the charming village of Chatburn near to the market town of Clitheroe.  The house dates back to the 17th century and is set in spacious and secluded, award winning gardens, yet has all the advantages of being in a country village with a thriving community.

How they do it

  • Mentoring at local schools.  We take pride in mentoring all the young people who gain valuable work and community experience with us.  We also encourage active participation with our local pre school, primary and secondary schools, we invite them to events and our clients participate in events held by the schools.

  • Hosting work experience students.  We enjoy working with the local schools and colleges to provide information and work experience. We regularly give presentations in schools.

  • Reaching out to the senior community.  Our aim is to open a door to any vulnerable older person living in our locality so that they do not feel socially excluded. We offer a 24-hour telephone line to be a listening ear to the elderly in our community. We invite our local elderly community to join us on social and fund raising occasions. We aim to raise awareness of the issues of all our community partners.

  • Assisting with charity fundraising efforts.  We have been honoured to assist with fundraising activities for the Residents and Community Social Fund, the Royal British Legion, the Royal National Institute for the Blind, the British Heart Foundation, the East Lancashire Hospice and Jeans for Genes. We also participate in many local fund raising events.

  • Ensuring our clients and employees feel they are valuable members of their community. We have a commitment to staff training and work towards building a well motivated happy team of workers, this has proved to promote customer satisfaction and lead to business expansion.
