London is a city of contrasts - it has the UK's highest productivity rate, the world's 4th largest economy and a gross value added of over £160 billion a year. Its global transport links are second to none, the skills and diversity of its people is world class, and the educational institutions in the city are world class.
However, London also faces challenges: population expansion; rising costs; housing shortages; insufficient and outdated transport infrastructure; and the highest child poverty rate in the country. 3 out of the five most deprived boroughs in England are in London as are 2/3 of the most deprived local authority housing estates.
London will only remain one of the most successful cities in the world if businesses take action to manage the difference they make to society and on the environment.
