What is Responsibility Northwest?

The Responsibility Northwest project is a partnership between Sustainability Northwest, Business in the Community and others with a vision for the Northwest to become an internationally recognised region for businesses contributing to sustainable development. It is currently funded by the NWDA, Enworks (via ERDF Objective 2) and LCCI.

Sustainability Northwest (SNW) is the regional champion for sustainable development.

An independent, pioneering charity, backed by both business and the public sectors, SNW is devoted to engaging actively with all sectors in the search for sustainable solutions. Through unlocking minds and raising awareness, SNW stimulates action that will lead to a better quality of life for all in the region.

ENWORKS is a unique environmental business support programme charged with improving business competitiveness and environmental performance throughout the North West.

Business in the Community is a unique independent business-led charity whose purpose is to inspire, engage, and support and challenge companies to continually improve the impact they have on society. With a current membership of over 750 companies, including 71 of the FTSE 100 and 82 per cent of the FTSE's UK leading companies in their sector, together Business in the Community members employ 12.4 million people in over 200 countries worldwide, including 1 in 5 of the UK private sector workforce.

The North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT) brings together a group of the most influential business leaders in North West England, to address key strategic issues affecting the well-being of the region and the quality of life of all its people. It operates as a not-for-profit organisation with a small office based in Warrington.

Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides a wide range of services, support and opportunities designed to keep its members ahead of the competition. It is the voice of Liverpool's business community and everything it does is focused on delivering success for its member businesses.

Business Link exists to help promote the growth & competitiveness of Local SME's. As a partnership it offers business support and is committed to achieving high growth in local business community. Business link offers advice on legal framework, pollution prevention and control, air quality, effluent and water, waste management, hazardous substances, nuisance and EMS.

The British Chambers of Commerce comprise a national network of quality-accredited Chambers of Commerce, all uniquely positioned at the heart of every business community in the UK and representing more than 135,000 businesses of all sizes in all sectors of the economy - equivalent to five million jobs.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency provides strategic leadership, programmes and funding to ensure the sustainable economic development and regeneration of England's Northwest, one of the United Kingdom's largest and most important regions.

The North West Regional Assembly is a partnership of local government, business organisations, public sector agencies, education and training bodies, trade unions and co-operatives together with the voluntary sector, working to promote the economic, environmental and social well-being of the North West of England (Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside).

Government Office for the North West is one of nine Government Offices in England. It represents and undertakes work on behalf of ten central government departments.
