Happy Computers named as Business in the Community's Small Business of the Year 2006
Last night at a glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony hosted by BHP Billiton, Company of the Year 2006, before an international audience of business leaders, government Ministers and leading opinion formers, HRH, The Prince of Wales named Happy Computers as Business in the Community's Small Company of the Year 2006 in The Impact on Society for a Small Company Award in association with the Institute of Directors. This was based on its commitment to delivering measurable, positive impacts on society.
London based Happy Computers won the award for its overall approach to corporate responsibility which, in the words of founder Henry Stewart, is 'integrated into everything we do'.
Happy is an IT training company employing 42 staff in addition to a number of associates. Social inclusion and positive impact are integrated into all of the company's activities from the design of training to the choosing of suppliers and payment terms. Its aim is to make people more effective in their use of IT and in their management.
The other companies shortlisted for the Award were iMPOWER Consulting, Impact Development Training Group, Futures Supplies and Systems and Fonebak.
